Flora London Marathon - criteria for awarding of club places

These criteria were approved by the committee on 14th September 2006 and apply to any places which the club gain for the Flora London Marathon 2007 and later.  The invitation to apply went out in October's ITCH

Flora London Marathon - club places

Ipswich Triathlon Club is affiliated to the [name of body which superseded AAA]. As such the club is able to bid for privilege club entries in the Flora London Marathon.

We have managed to secure [NUMBER] entries in the 2007 event, which will be held on Sunday 22nd April 2007.

Members are invited to apply for one of those entries. If more people apply than we have entries, the committee will decide who gets the club's entries taking into consideration criteria shown below.

The closing date for club entries to reach the Flora London Marathon organisers is [DATE] and the committee will make its decision by [DATE].  If you want to be considered, you must let Simon Palmer know by [DATE].

Criteria for awarding of places

The criteria which the committee take into account, and the order in which they take them into account, are:

• were you a paid up "first claim" member before this notice went out
• if not a first claim member, were you a paid up "second claim" member before this notice went out
• have you met your marshalling commitments
• have you applied for and been rejected in the Flora London Marathon open ballot
• how many times have you entered using a club entry (the preference is to given somebody else a chance)
• when did you last enter using a club entry
• how long have you been a paid up member of the club

You should note that if you are successful in gaining a club entry, you must enter and compete as a member of Ipswich Triathlon Club.
This does not preclude you from using your place to collect money for charity but you must wear club kit.
You will be obliged to pay the entry fee yourself which, for 2006, was £26.
