Cornard Sizzler ‘Race’ – The Final Challenge

September 4^th.  9.30 am.  Great Cornard Upper School Sports Centre, Head Lane CO10 OJU.

• 300 metre swim – outdoor 25m pool (lifeguarded).
• 12 mile cycle (approx) – features Col Du Cornard.  2 ‘undulating’ laps.  Mainly left turns on non busy roads BUT does involve one cross over an estate road (will be marshalled here).  Please take care and listen at ‘race briefing’.  Some ‘roads’ are gravel corners.  Most of course is twisting, narrow lanes.
• 3000 metre run – flat and boring!  2 laps of (school field plus short road section) will be marked with flags and arrows.
• No entry fee.  No prizes.  Minimal facilities. Not a race as such, just  fast training exercise! The school sports centre is being rebuilt so toilets are two portaloos, no changing rooms but somewhere close will be found on the day.  Racking is against a wall.

How to get there

From the A134 Bury St Edmunds to Colchester road going around Sudbury, Great Cornard is off the roundabout by the Esso Garage/KFC/Halfords/Turner Tool Hire places on the industrial estate just outside Sudbury.

From the roundabout -> Great Cornard -> Northern Road proceed along until you reach turning on right signposted Rugby Club/Sports Centre/Stevenson Centre.

It should say Canhams Road. The turning is opposite a left turn (Sheepshead Hill) by grass area and houses.

Go down Canhams Road to find Head Lane.

School is on left.
