For details of Training please contact Isabel Smith, our Junior development and coaching officer at email@example.com We meet weekly at Eyke and twice a month at Woolverstone. Junior members are guided toward a more structured programme of development across all disciplines, with which parents are encouraged to help.
Members-only swimming sessions are held on a Saturday morning at a local 25m pool, with coaching available. During the summer, senior members have had the use of a private open water facility one morning and evening every week.
Cycle training is arranged on an ad-hoc basis. The club is a great place to meet others of a similar ability to arrange training with.
Our weekly club runs are on Thursdays from Greshams in Ipswich, departing at 6.30pm. These sessions alternate between effort/speed sessions and road runs. There is an off-road run in the five week cycle of sessions. During the winter months this becomes a head-torch run. The sessions are planned on the members calendar here.
Much of the club’s activity is arranged through an active members only Facebook group. In addition to the above training, individuals organise social and other events, including ride-outs and yoga sessions.
We are affiliated to BT (British Triathlon) through Triathlon England. This means that members can get a discount off the full year subscription if they choose to join BT direct – for example to get an annual race licence.
Ipswich Triathlon is a member of CTT (Cycling Time Trials), which is the governing body for time trialing in the UK. This means that members can take part in any of the official time trials held under their regulation. Full details can be found on the CTT Website. We are also members of the Ipswich & District Cycle Association and take part in the Ipswich & District Time Trial Series.
We are affiliated to UK Athletics through England Athletics. This allows members to enter the SAA Winter Cross-country League events. Also it means that club members can take part in the Suffolk Road Racing Grand Prix leagues. First claim members, once registered, receive the England Athletics (EA) competition licence which serves as a club membership card. This entitles the holder to discounted entry to UK:A registered races and other EA benefits. Affiliation to EA has meant we have previously been allocated one or two places in the Virgin Money London Marathon.
Club kit is sold to members at cost, with members also receiving discount vouchers as part of their membership – in particular on fulfilling their marshalling obligations.
We have Club Championships with categories for juniors, seniors, veterans and supervets. These championships are decided by performance within a club championship league, featuring a choice of eligible events – for seniors these range from sprint to Ironman distance.
The Club in 2018 organised a sprint distance triathlon at Culford and a Junior Triathlon for 8-16 year olds at Framlingham. This is usually part of the Eastern Area series. All profits are used to the benefit of the membership, and members will be expected to assist or provide an assistant for at least one of these events.
We also organise four local series time-trials, for which members also volunteer. A great way of being introduced to these events.
