I wasn&#8217;t particularly fit at the time and had very little knowledge about the sport but during a slow run to the finish line, I got chatting to another participant who asked if I were a member of the Ipswich Triathlon Club. I hadn&#8217;t even heard of the club at that point but decided that it might be worth investigating to see if it was worth joining. The answer was yes, it was most definitely worth joining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have now been part of the club for over 11 years and have a lot more knowledge about the sport. I&#8217;m also much fitter too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since joining I have completed some amazing events, both in the UK and abroad, and there are still many events on my bucket list.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I took over as club secretary in 2020 without knowing much about the role but with encouragement from the previous club secretary, Charlie Stannett, and support from the rest of the committee, I have gradually become comfortable in my duties and have developed an array of new skills and knowledge that I would not have gained if I hadn&#8217;t taken the opportunity. I love the club ethos that anyone is welcome to join and that you don&#8217;t have to be super fit to take part.
