{"id":124,"date":"2026-02-24T11:07:59","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T11:07:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ipswich-tri.org\/?p=124"},"modified":"2026-04-21T19:45:20","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T18:45:20","slug":"james-calvert-membership-secretary-open-captain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ipswich-tri.org\/?p=124","title":{"rendered":"James Calvert \u2013 Membership Secretary &amp; Open Captain"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I have always loved sport and competed at athletics and road running for over 25 years before finding triathlon.&nbsp; I competed in my first triathlon at Wattisham in 2014 but did not finish as I crashed my bike, fortunately I have not had any crashes (at least in races) since!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I joined ITC in 2015 and have progressed from sprint distance races up to Ironman, although I am still working on putting together a complete race for the full distance.&nbsp; My swimming and cycling have benefitted from training with the club especially the structured \/ coached Saturday swimming sets and long rides with other club members.&nbsp; However, being from a running background the final discipline is the one I look forward to the most.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have been on the club committee for 5 years and as well as memberships I also look after England Athletics affiliations and cross country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have always loved sport and competed at athletics and road running for over 25 years before finding triathlon.&nbsp; I competed in my first triathlon at Wattisham in 2014 but did not finish as I crashed my bike, fortunately I have not had any crashes (at least in races) since!
